musical literacy quiz.
Apr. 3rd, 2011 10:04 amHere is an interesting comparison I realized a few weeks ago. Maybe it is old news, but it was a discovery to me. These two parallel lines of music are fragments from different compositions. Can anybody read the music and name them? Here are some hints to help:

I thought this was very exciting: fascinating. I don't get out much. Heh! Good luck, musicistas.

- ☛ The top line is very famous internationally, was composed in 1824, and is sung by a chorus.
☛ The second line was premiered in 1875. I think it is a quote from the first piece to subtlety engage the emotion of longing in the listeners. It is very famous in opera circles and is sung by Micaëla.
