The People's Temple is now torn down, but was on Geary Street, only about two doors away from the Fillmore Auditorium. I had a girlfriend who had some slight connection with People's Temple up in Mendocino. We had a falling out, and I let her store all her books and photos at my place. She wanted to travel around California and search for her spirituality, someplace I could not go with her. After we got all of her books put away, and she left, I never saw her again.

About a year later was the mass suicide in Jonestown. I for a long time wondered if she had gotten caught up with that group, but her name, as I knew her, was not among the list of the dead. Sometimes the terrible thought that she had been killed by those myriad nut case serial killers in Northern California around that time, made me worry. It's all possible. I always thought I'd someday get a call or letter about her stuff, but I never did. When I moved out of SF 30 years later, I left the books and her photos, etc. behind. Recently my old landlords found a camera lens that had gotten lost behind something in my old place when they were remodeling it. They sent it to me. It's all I have or know that's left of her. Maybe she moved back to NY where her (estranged) family was.

About a year ago, someone sent me a small collection of 4 of these little ± 1" positives. I like them.
