This place can afford it. It is on Powell Street right downtown where the cable car is and surrounded by many big tourist hotels and department stores: location, location, location. Not only that, many locals go here to have a cheap steak lunch or dinner. Probably most people I know in SF have eaten here at least once. It features a really kitsch interior with phony old master paintings of shepherdesses, and cupids with bows and arrows. Nothing fancy, cheap, lurid, and tasty. I got acquainted with the owner over the years. He was a very strange guy kind of like Liberace without a piano, if you can imagine. He's probably passed away by now. A real peculiar scene. I always liked the place actually.
