work vs. pleasure.

I went to my union job Saturday and made a BIG pile of money, but I couldn't go to the auction house and bid on two old paintings I liked. They went for only $25 and $30. I hate work.

Dun hate work too much. I would love to have a job. Well, I'd love to be Abigail Johnson (of Fidelity Investments) who is personally worth 8.5 BILLION, but a job would be nice. :)

Which paintings did you like?

What's the story on your job situation. Me, I have 2 jobs. One, this union thing which I have been doing off and on for 25 years, and my job at home doing the woodworking which I have been doing for even longer.

One was a picture of two children running on the beach. It is sort of nostalgic, but more than that it has a sort of illustration quality as if it maybe were the original art for an illustration for a book a long time ago. It uses a technique that is a very light touch consisting of what you might call color smudges, and it is rather low key in color, and in earth tones.

The other one was part of a two lot. One of them was pure flea market crap, but the other was a very accomplished plein air painting of an artist painting on the beach partly concealed under a big white umbrella.

If I had gone today I would have bid because obviously, bidding was low since they were both offered with bidding starting at $25.

I prepared photos of them, but I think I will post them tomorrow since I am kind of tired and I think they still need a little work to get the color more close to accurate.
