This is a charming scene. So remind me about this challenge: are you going to draw this at some point, or are you just putting it out there for others to draw?
I like the sense of narrative this photo has--the statue too shy to glance out directly at the guy feeding the pigeons.
Yes, it was a nice little coincidence to see that woodcarving with my neighbor. He feeds the pigeons every morning with loaves of bread he tears up.
The challenge started between kdotdammit and I. I had started putting in mostly drawings, and she does them too for her writing and other projects. Once she visited the Grand Canyon and posted some shots she took, so I drew one of them. We decided to draw each other's black and white photos (because she was taking the 7-day BW challenge on facebook) so, it started, intending just to have FUN. Then other people noticed what was going on and they have started to draw too. There aren't really any rules, except to do drawings, be encouraging, and have fun.
I sometimes draw one of my own which is how I started, but now I usually wait for awhile to let others have a chance to draw them first. We each have our own certain drawing tendencies, so I think it is good not to influence them with how I do, before they do their own thing.
Anyway, you are free to join us. Everybody who is taking part seems to be having a good time and be enthusiastic about it. I guess if you drew one of my pics (or kdd's, or gracegiver's, etc.) and then post it in your journal, and then as a comment below the original, others would see you are joining and then realize you are in the group too, and start drawing your photos. You can also post a photo and then draw it beneath in your own journal picture. Other people's versions might show up in the comments below. If I do one of kdd's drawings, I usually add a link below my drawing to her entry, and then a copy of the drawing as a comment in her entry.
I think the frequent links get people looking at other people's comments in different journals, so it spreads the journals around a little bit too.
You draw frequently. Why not join this little group of enthusiasts. I think for all of us, it is mainly about improving skills, which seems to happen fast in such an enthusiastic, no pressure set-up. And, it's all about having lots of fun, with the big benefit of improvement and being able to congratulate oneself and encourage other's endeavors.
It sounds like a lot of fun, and I may! I'd like to draw this one.
... My only worry is that I'm not really *present* enough--you know the very sporadic nature of my comments. But if people aren't too put off by that, then yeah, it does sound like a lot of fun.
Don't worry about anything. This is a "have fun doing drawings for your own pleasure" thing. Other people's problems with "our presence" (tell me about it) have nothing to do with our enjoyment and pursuit of drawing. Stick that pencil where you'll make the sun to shine!
Francesca, I'd really enjoy it if you decided to come in. Just sayin'
OMG if I lived on your block I would put out poison if it were legal and crushed red pepper if it were not, and I would be in a constant verbal battle with that man to get him to stop. It's bad enough the infestation of vermin, but to actually encourage them by feeding them? No way. I get angry just thinking about it. People who will tell you to mind your own business when they do things that are going to affect you.
