Very interesting structures inside the nasturtium blossom. I think nasturtiums are knockouts, especially the big round leaves and their slender, thread-like stems. The florets in the lower right are a pelargonium (geranium).

Thanks. They remind me, in there intense redness, and the slight modeling changes within the overall brightly colored shapes, of mannerist paintings from the 1500's, or at least that's what I was thinking about when working these pictures up.

I am trying to grow some nasturtiums in a pot so I can photograph the stems and leaves from below. I love the way the stems are like long thin undulating lines. One of the new plantings is about a half inch tall now, so these pictures will be awhile.

Re: mannerist paintings, I need to get my art books out and browse through them. Though I'd probably know quite a lot of artists, I don't know as many as I ought to, or as many movements. I do have some good full colour books though that I picked up at the secondhand bookshop years ago.
