Thanks. I have noticed in the past that people in Chinatown use their windows for clothes drying, and sometimes their fire escapes as a sort of closet, but more lately I am noticing more of this. Maybe it is just that I wasn't as observant in the past, or maybe it is mirroring the spreading hard times. Lots of these buildings' upper floors are single room occupancy hotels for poor and elderly Chinese Americans. I see the economic tightening, but I also see how resourceful and thrifty some people can be, and I like that, being so myself.
