djaza,
gracegiver,
zyzyly, and I wandered into Portsmouth Square in Chinatown and witnessed a Falun Gong practice under way Saturday.

A loudmouth with a bullhorn showed up to harangue the Chinese American citizens who were also occupying the Square enjoying various other amusements including a concert, cardgames, and mahjong and checkers-like games. No one among the Falun Gong looked very spiritually moved, they looked a bit scared.

This woman blared incessantly to abandon the Communist Party, and other loud demands to the many people occupying the park.
People started jeering her and laughing at the Falun Gong practitioners, at first individually and then in unison. They seemed to enjoy this as if it was an ongoing practice of their own.
We left after a while and wandered around in Chinatown and North Beach for a few hours - we had boated into the city, hung out for several hours, had lunch at Mario's Bohemian Cigar Store at Washington Square, and then boated back out of SF from Pier 41: a perfect day together getting acquainted and prowling around.
