They are really big too, the white part is about as big as your palm and the yellow part about 1 inch across. They are very fragile. The yellow part begins to get a hole in the middle pretty soon after opening, and the petals only last a few days, or less if it is windy. I took several pictures and will post a few more later (like I do every year) and probably return again and take more in a week or so. They burst open in late May and the blossoms are very numerous. The scraggly 8' tall bushes continue to produce buds in large numbers for about 6 weeks and then they taper off. In September they flower again for about a week or so.
Because they are so white, and in the bright sun, I turn the EV down three clicks to -1. Then, I boost the contrast which makes them look more fragile, almost transparent in the shadows, and surrounded by darkness, but, you can see them well without the whites being all burnt out.
