hahaha. That made me laugh even though I was up at 4.30 in the morning with a headache. :D I googled 'emo goths' the last time, but the first few images depressed me unduly, so I gave it up. lol
I hear that on LJ now everyone can correct their comments (since they eliminated the preview). This is a plus!
I know a few goth type women who are my artist clients, and also at my union job. Some of them have a lot of difficulty relating to people and have a hostility attitude all the time - they're the union ones. I can sort of understand and respect their position in that milieu. Their gothism is an attempted defense against fear and unwanted contact and sexism. The other ones I know are customers in my woodworking - they're artists. I think for them "goth" is a sort of cultural statement attempt to project their independent thinking. We get along fine after they see that though nearly elderly in their eyes, I am in the same camp culturally as they are. We get along very well. I approve (as if they care) and they like me. I can give good comment on their work if they want it - a neutral pair of intelligent eyes that know a lot about art, I'm not jealous, and am in their corner.
Have good holidays. I think I'd like to send you a painting sometime. I mostly do little ones, so it wouldn't be a problem to hang somewhere. You could hang it in a dark closet if you didn't like it. Let me know when you feel good enough about me to reveal an address (sometime within the next 5 years). Think of something you would like me to paint. I'll do it and post it. Maybe that will lure you out of hiding. I'm hoping to do more artwork this year. Time is passing. You'd be helping me out with your suggestion. We've developed a nice friendship here on DW I'm happy to see. It's due to care and respect. I look forward to our back and forths. Let's keep them going. Ciao, Shinsetsu. Buon Natale.☆
Why ever would I hang it in a dark closet? That's just silly. I am honoured, but you know how I am. You could always paint it within the next five years and post it online, and I could set it as my wallpaper and look at it all the time! :D
What do you LIKE to paint? I think one of my most favourite painting scenarios is a scene through a window with maybe a flower on the sill--you know like Levkonoe posts all the time. When I google them, I say 'window view' painting. :)
I like your comments and our journal friendship because I always learn something. *Looks up who Natale is...* :)
Tell you what, you have a whole day, because I'm gonna be away most of today. I go for the Brenda Lee. (Who'd want to cover Burl Ives?) Plus, and it's a big one, the lead guitar on Christmas Tree sounds like Les Paul. Wouldn't hurt to pick up on those licks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnIqLlBwzrc
got the opening riff to Jingle Bell Rock almost smooth, but then, you know. family stuff and now leaving for dinner. it's a trickier song than it sounds for someone without mad skillz.
i did learn rockin' around the christmas tree, we actually played it once for a grin at practice last night. but i couldn't bring myself to make a vid of me doing it. and now it's a bit late.
i have envy of peeps hanging in SF all together, and i've really enjoyed yours and bobbi's pics.
perhaps some day i'll take a drive down I-5 and cut over to the coast.
I hope you can come, and vice-versa. Talk to your boss. Maybe he has a load o' shit for us.
Gee, I bet the Rockin around the christmas tree was fine, so fine. I think you could play that song any time of year and get a big grin out of people. People love christmas when they are thinking about it - it's just living through them that gets everybody crazy.
