Well, I was reading news when I found that story, and I had no idea that a wood structure could last that long, especially a barn. I have seen pictures of barns on the Interstates across this countrythat are falling apart. They look very rustic and forsaken, and they wouldn't be nearly as old as that barn I found. In fact, I see from googling that barns are a big topic for art and photos. I've heard of barn raisings.
There was a 1985 movie called WITNESS with Harrison Ford in which HF goes and hides out with the Amish in rural PA. He takes part in a barn raising with the Amish community. It's a wonderful extended scene of raising a classic timber frame barn in a non mechanized culture. It's a really good movie if you haven't sen it.
I also remember a film with Lee Marvin which took place in a huge two level barn type building. It was 'Prime Cut'. It was a really depressing mob movie.
A Chicago mob collector (Lee Marvin) calls on a Kansas cattleman (Gene Hackman) who also deals in prostitutes and drugs.
Probably the youtube commenter is jealous and homophobic. Why give any substance to the vast bunch of doofus, know-nothing wannabes who make their unknowing comments anonymously on youtube. They probably will cast write-in votes for Sarah Palin - that is, if they can tear themselves away from their youtube/twitter dissertations. We're pretty bright. I study up and follow my own logic. I think you do too.
