open book, black crows.
Jun. 17th, 2010 08:39 amHere's a thought I had while answering a comment from zhenzhi in LJ.
This bird book is a photo from eBay - I didn't win this item :-(
Next time though, maybe I will.
- Maybe I should draw some of my books;
- draw them open to selected favorite pages.

Date: 2010-06-18 02:30 am (UTC)HERE is one on Japanese costumes from 1840 that you might like - $800 though, but you could capture the illustrations for your costume collection before the auction closes. The costumes are actual fabric samples pasted in. Incredible!
The keywords I use in the ebay search box are Japanese Woodcut Book if you want to keep track of the wonders that show up there.
I used to have a buddy I met on eBay who sold these ehon books from 19th c. Japan. I have a small collection of them. He used to send me freebies with my purchases. He graduated from college in Massachusetts and shut down his eBay store. Too bad. He was really enthusiastic and when he would go to the book flea markets in Tokyo on his vacations, I would ask him what to look for for me.
