Thanks. Candid seems to be more and more appealing to me in B&W, I always take the pics in color, but while processing them sometimes I realize they will be better turning the color off. The color seems like just so much unwanted detail and information sometimes. I get a kind of bluish, cold black and white when I switch out of color which I don't like, so I warm them up a little. Plus, we had just visited a large photographic exhibit of Photos from Mexico which was very fine. Most of the pictures were in B&W, so maybe my thinking was in that camp when I took this one - in fact, I know it was. I used my little unobtrusive Panasonic which is handy for candids and sneaking pics in the museum. I was about as far from the guy as he is from his girlfriend.
I liked how in this picture, the woman's black pants sort of disappeared in front of the very dark painting, and so she looks almost like a portrait painting hanging on the wall, painted from dark to light like a Rembrandt. I wonder if the photographer thought like that or was simply taking a picture of his somewhat bored looking girlfriend in front of a Clifford Still.
Here is another pic of a photographer I posted about two weeks ago. This one I used my bigger camera with the zoom lens and I was quite a far distance away from her - like maybe 100 meters, and I cropped it quite closely and thought she looks like a vampire bat.
