This is on the Walnut Creek side of Mt Diablo - a regional park called Castle Rock. We walked about a mile in and a mile back, crossing a stream, hopping the rocks, four times in each direction. I had a meet up with several other LJers in Davis last weekend and it was extra special. There is this creek walk that is also an arboretum. There were lots of people on that walk, being right next to UC Davis. Mt Diablo on the other hand was very unpopulated. We probably saw not many more than 15 people in maybe 3 hours. We saw more cows than people.
Oh I know, I was out there back in the late sixties one summer and it can be like an oven. The changes we see (green to golden to dry brown) a lot of people in other parts of the world just don't know about.
