I thought it was just the end of a very long calendar or time period, and the start of a new one.

I liked your shadows and light photo the other day. This one also has a kind of apocalyptic vision - or maybe that should be failed apocalyptic!

I think the Mayans had some kind of cyclical calendar that is based on a 20 base rather than a 10 base like we have. I looked this up on Wiki which indicated that the Mayan calendar continues on way, way, way into the future. There are points like our millennia where the calendar resets for the next cycle. It has reset several times in the past, and will now reset for the next cycle. Apocalypse thinkers and new agers probably have no need to look things up. Magic thinking and fantasy are their truthiness, and reality enough for their made-up hopes and fears. They sell a lot of books though.

I was in town Tuesday to see my dentist for a cleaning, and got to wander around for a few hours. I got a few good pics in my meandering. I like going to the dentist just for this extra added pleasure benefit.
