That place is Ratto's Deli in Oakland. I was there with several of my LJ photo friends on one of our several yearly get togethers.
The userpic was sent to me by LJ friend gracegiver who is one of the friends I was with in Oakland. She had come in from Sacramento and we met up with the others. A long time ago, I told her that one of my favorite movies is The Docks of New York, a silent film from 1928. She found a poster of it on the internet and made the icon from that.
