bay bridge, east span.
Aug. 29th, 2013 08:28 amYesterday, I drove over the old Bay Bridge for the last time. The replacement for the east span which was begun in 1989 after the big earthquake, is finally ready: 24 years. There were some cost overruns. Really.

The bridge closed Wednesday, Aug. 28 @ 5PM, and will reopen in about a week when the old section is disconnected and the new span is 'go'.

Here's a view none of us will ever see again - just out of the tunnel, lower deck.
