map of bohemia, 1598.
Sep. 12th, 2010 03:25 pmHere is a hand drawn 1598 map of Bohemia, generally, the modern day Czech Republic. I won it at the auction house yesterday. It is a facsimile, and was not expensive. I was the only bidder. My father's family's roots are there, but more than that, I liked the hand printed name BOHEMIAE (in just the style that I would have done it, placed in the cartouche down in the corner); more of an attitude and style of living that fits me better than the guttering mainstream I am tsunami'd by, not to mention I live in a mindset about 400 years old anyway. Now, I will always be reminded of "my fellow cittadini", where this land is (here with me) and who I am.
