I noticed how the old suspension sections of the Bay Bridge are looking kind of dated and old compared to the flashy new replacement for the cantilever section on the other side of the Yerba Buena Island. The Bay Bridge always looks good though, crossing over to Oakland and Berkeley.

OMG! I adore bridges! On my old journal, I even have a tag for bridges--bridge paintings, bridge photos, bridge icons! I will fish around and find some of them for you.

The shiny part of the Bay Bridge is probably that steel from CHINA! :-p

It sure is. I saw the photos of Arnold over there thanking the Chinese factory worker/bridge fabricators for their excellent work. He seemed to be well liked there judging by the excited and happy workers lining up in groups to shake the Terminator's hand.

They can afford to be happy. They have jobs (often around the clock, but still...:-p)

It's just HERE we have no jobs.

No, I don't live in the City, but I am quite familiar with it. It's one of my favourite places.

I'm in and out of the city all the time. I work there at a union job in Moscone Center now and then, and occasionally in some of the big hotels. I usually take BART in, or the Ferry boat to go to that job. With my second woodworking job that I do here at home, I have many artist clients in San Francisco, and I deliver the things I make to their studios there, and in Oakland and Berkeley and to other artists scattered around here and there. I like what I do and who I know.

It's sounds quite lovely and exciting (except for the BART part). :) What kind of woodwork do you do?

I mostly make wood panels for artists to paint pictures on. I also make stretchers for them for stretching canvas. Occasionally I do some custom item, or easels or worktables. In the past I made pine furniture in 18th century French style which I taught myself by visiting antique stores in SF, befriending the owners and doing close examination and then making adaptations of the things I liked. I took commissions from people to make things. I stopped doing that in the 80's though, because I started loathing the people I would get commissions from. I finally bought back the commissions, returning their advances. They were "decade of greed" yuppies, and I decided to separate myself from the type and specialize with artists.
