Here is a photo I took in Florence when I was there in 1982. I had gone to the Basilica of Santa Croce to see the sights there and was walking back through alleys near the Arno River. I saw an old man walking ahead of me and imagined I was him sometime in the future. (I still have many years to go luckily, in case you were wondering, which I suppose you weren't.)

[personal profile] marstokyo is going for a visit in Italia soon, and so I got this down to photograph and post along with a comment in her journal. It's in a plexi box frame, 5x7, dusty. I put it in some raking sunlight from the kitchen window. Looks kinda cool. Taken with my trusty old (retired) Canon 35mm SLR.

I'd very much like to live on a street like this, if I resided in Florence, or anywhere.

That is a cool picture! It should be a poster too -- a huge one for over the sofa!! That street reminds me of some people I knew who lived right at the base of a mountain -- something about the tallness blocking the light.

Oh, and I was wondering--but I can't tell how old that man is anyway. lol And it doesn't really matter. :)

Almost dead at 64? I hope not. I had a friend from home who liked Florence best of all the cities he had been to.
