I found two nickels in my pocket Monday that I thought were foreign coins. I had not seen these types before. One coin had changed the front - from Monticello to the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and the other coin had changed the back portrait of Jefferson from the old side profile to a 3/4 profile. They also put Liberty in Jefferson's handwriting above the 2010 date which was a nice touch I thought. Too bad they don't have all the printing done in script instead of those boring Roman capital letters. They think somebody actually reads that stuff, doesn't know a nickel when they see one, gotta be 'spelled out clear' so we can't say it's a silver dollar?
Anyway, I kept trying to photograph them to get a good image, but the reflections made it difficult, so I decided to put all the shots in here, and number them so we can decide which ones we like best. I decided for my own curious reasons that my favorites are:

- 8 - because it's kind of weird looking and a pale Venetian red.
5 - because it looks like a night boat ride.
2 - looks like a Francis Bacon.
1 - because he looks like an ultra liberal president: a good omen.
4 - Jefferson is laughing even though Texas wrote him off.

My cameras are not so hot. The Sony I took the coins with is about 10 years old and only .3 megapixels. It stores only about 20 images on a floppy disk. My newer ones are both Panasonic. I go through them in about 4 or 5 years it seems, then get new ones. I always have a camera with me.
You could just use the camera you have, get into the practice of going out and getting, and then either make do or buy better. Please do. Images you posted would be much more interesting to see than web shots, although your journal is pretty interesting as is.
