If I owned that office, I would paint the door and put some fancy cement tiles down where that sidewalk is cracked (and the sidewalk needs cleaning). I would also put a big brass door handle on the door with a fancy-dressed doorman standing beside the door, and he'd be packing an Uzi.
This door is right at the NW corner of Hampshire @ Mariposa Street in San Francisco. It maybe once was an office to the SF Municipal Transportation Agency (the Muni: busses and subways) but I think maybe now the office has moved to a newer, spiffier location (with the Uzi armed guards) and this door maybe is the workers' entrance where the time clock is - kind of "the man don't care" kind of entrance for depressing the working stiffs. The door now opens into a series of bays where the busses go in to be worked on. The rest of the block is a big yard where the busses are stored when not in use. This yard is for the electric busses with the overhead wires.
What would your fancy entrance (with brass knocker and liveried, Uzi packing doorman) admit people, such as myself, to?
Exa, exa, excellent! Is the Uzi guy there to keep people IN or OUT? I'm thinking the latter, but he or she wouldn't have much to do keeping people IN if the "stock" was first class. Myself, I'd want to move in; a home away from home, like the fabled Diogenes Club.
I think you just answered the question. At closing time, if people are going to be reluctant to leave, I'll have to go get the Uzi guy in for a little friendly persuasion. :P
