after the storm.

Another auction painting:
After the Storm, by Gustave Wolff (American, 1863‐1935). Condition: Two tears lower center, largest approximately 1'' long. (This painting was auctioned for $850.00.)
Wolff worked mainly around St. Louis doing tonalist landscapes. This one is more dramatic than the other paintings of his that I have seen.

Notice the similarity to After a Rain, shinsetsu?

I do! And I like it. I was looking at his other paintings too, and this one is interesting. I also liked this High Bridge, N.Y. piece, but I couldn't find it any larger. His works seem in short supply onthe net. I like the way he paints skies.

And whilst I was looking for a bigger picture of the High Bridge, I ran across a couple pages of REALLY high bridges with photos, but they are loading, so I will make a post when they are done if I dun fall asleep!

Thanks for Gustave. :)
