It's supposedly Ming. I got it from someone in New York on ebay, and there was dried clay in the bottom. I think it maybe was from a tomb. The same character is painted 8 times around on the outside, but starting from one of them, the writing gets progressively more worn off as you move to the left, until the last one is almost completely abraded off, as is the glazed surface. It's as if there is memory loss going on, or the process of erosion over long time as you rotate the bowl counter clockwise. That is why I got this one. I also got two others at other times. The sides are very thin and they are delicate.
I like the painting very much. Do you know what the Chinese character means? In your painting, it almost looks like a hummingbird. That was nice of you to buy your mum those surprises. :)
