I watched a video about Horemheb's tomb re-excavation and recorded some things I saw on my cash register tape.


1. farmers for the afterlife.

2. shards from wine jar.



3. coffin nails.



4. items in the sarcophagus.



5. strange underworld playmates: Anubis head and Turtle head.

Hmm. Wine jar shards. Maybe Horemheb got put in his tomb before he was dead.

I watched a movie once where this important Egyptian dude died, and they put this beautiful but unwilling young woman inside the pyramid's burial vault to keep him company in the afterlife and then sealed the tomb. :P

I read about the ancient Greeks who sometimes burned up the living wife on the funeral pyre with the deceased husband. I wonder if that was to solve inheritance issues... or just plain stupidity/cruelty.

In India, the practice continues, both voluntarily and coerced. Stupidity and cruelty about covers it. I have not read about the Greeks doing this, but I know the Hindu practice of it was written about in Greek history.

Oh yes, I remember that about India. Barbarism comes in all shades and colors, but mostly on two legs, and always with belief and tradition directing with certainty behind the scenes. Ugh.
