Thanks. No matter how good they may be, there are always the nagging doubts - or rather suspected certainties, so thanks for your accolade.
These three drawings are copies of KDD's photos over on LJ. She entered into a 7 day B&W photo challenge, and I decided to follow with a drawing challenge using her photos as prompts. The first day is the top drawing, the third day the one on the bottom. They're fun, but kind of challenging. One wants them not to be merely renderings, but more interesting than the photos; to express the different qualities that are the purview of drawing. The differing textures and qualities of light to depict are drawing challenges, not to mention the usual traps of proportion and perspective, and of course the element of spontaneity. #4 is posted on her journal. I did a compositional thumbnail to decide how I want to approach that devilishly tricky one. We'll see how it goes.
Thanks again. How have you been? Me: pretty good! I dropped out of DW for awhile because photobucket trashed all my photos since I started journaling. They suddenly demanded $400/mo for what had 'till then been free; they'd restore my photos once I pay up. That stinks like an extortion racket. More of the ubiquitous T🇷🇺mp effect - no doubt there.
I've been okay. I'm trying to extricate myself from church stuff by early next year, so that's been a project, but hopefully one that'll leave me happier in the long run.
I never did send you a photo of the now-framed picture you sent me, did I? I should do that.
Ooo, thanks. They click to full size on the screen. That drawing looks good framed. And you look great too. I usually have only seen your pictures when you are at a party at your parents or somewhere, so it's nice to see you close up and "on purpose" so to speak. Thank you very much.
You know my friend djaza on LJ... she's kind of fallen away from journaling, but she's been into wicca her whole life. Maybe she might be able to steer you to good references that she knows about if you sent her a comment. I'm not into any kind of spiritual discipline or beliefs myself, but what ever she's doing, I encourage her to keep it up. She's about the most together and wonderful person I know.
It doesn't show up particularly well in the photo but it's a black frame with a dark blue mat and a little white edging to make it pop. It's nice to have it on my wall.
Yeah, usually I post photos of me when I'm doing something fancy. This is my I-have-to-go-to-work-and-can't-figure-out-how-to-take-selfies look, I guess.
I remember djaza! I don't think I was ever friends with her but I remember running across her in the comments now and then. I appreciate the tip.
Thanks. KDD over on LJ has taken the 7 day B&W photo challenge and I decided to use her pics as prompts. You can see these three photos (with the drawings in the comments) starting here: https://kdotdammit.livejournal.com/2873485.html
Very cool! How interesting to see the photos. You show us the same scene but it's like in a different spectrum--like we're seeing it in ultraviolet this time or something.
