I saw bunches of drawings today at the Met, including sketchpads where Michelangelo drew and his students tried to copy him, and I thought of you and your photos.
I've seen about that show, I think it's "Divine Draughtsman" with 135 Michelangelo drawings? Thanks for thinking of me in such august company. Ha! I hope it doesn't go to my head and I become even more insufferable.
Did you enjoy the show? Was it well attended or too crowded. I'd suspect it would be very heavily attended. My favorite of his drawings are the ones of anatomy studies where he seems to use the cross hatching as if it were chisel marks defining the direction of the forms. He was really something.
It was very crowded in under an hour after museum opening. Probably the one time to go is during the later hours, maybe dinner time, on Friday or Saturday. I pushed through the crowds and focused on the less mobbed pictures of architectural drawings and teacher/student work toward the end of the exhibit.
