I saw this at the auction last Friday. I saved it for LJ friend marstokyo's birthday
entry over there today. It's a stylized painting of a California Poppy
by Arthur and Lucia Mathews, an expression of the
California Arts and Crafts Movement,
c. 1915.

Me too, and the radical stylization of the poppy. Remember, we discussed the Mathews' a while ago in reference to their paintings of cypress trees. This Poppy decorative painting is another example of the scope of their output.
