We saw this one at the auction and I knew right away it would bid way up. 19th c. folk art is hot stuff. Here is what the catalog said:

It had 5 online bids before the auction started, and spirited bidding ended with a hammer price of $550.00 which will wind up about $700. with the gallery commission and taxes.

I would have liked to have had this, I'm a fan of American 19th c. folk art, but I knew it would go way higher than I would feel comfortable bidding, so I didn't even go to the auction on Saturday. I saw it at the preview on Friday afternoon and remarked to djaza at the time about it. Almost every auction preview I see something I know is way underestimated. I show up at bid time, and zing, the bidding goes way out of sight. I've got a good eye, but a small purse.
