Thanks. It is part of a window display in the old downtown part of Vallejo - a still life in an abandoned store window. I used the tools in PIXLR which is my favorite editing suite, to alter it to suit my fancy. I always use iPhoto, and then the two sets of editing tools in PIXLR as needed to work up my images. Then I store them on Photobucket (which I am getting near totally fed up with and thinking of changing to a FLICKR paid account @ $25/yr.) Photobucket is losing photos, takes forever, often doesn't work, and has recently completely dumbed itself down. What a loser Photobucket has become.
That's a shame about the trouble you're having with PB. I've had no problems with Photobucket at all recently. Finally I can upload without hassle and I haven't noticed any missing photos. I was fed up with them on previous occasions when I was doing the daily photo because they made uploading impossible at times.
It brings you to a page with menu items across the top. I use the second and third items for editing.
*Pixlr editor is for if you want to draw paint dodge: it's a serious editiong suite of tools far manipulating and changing the photo. I don't often use this pixlr editor, but use Pixlr express for every photo.
*Pixlr express is more of a standard sizing, coontrast, saturation, editing suite for just general editing. It also has lots of borders and effects some of which are pretty useful, others, not useful at all.
PIXLR used to be on PB, but it worked awfully there and often wouldn't save changes. PB exchanged the PIXLR tools for their kindergarten editing tools - which also often won't save. Their contract with PIXLR had ended. PIXLR standing alone works perfectly, and I am very happy I discovered that it was the set that PB had been using, because even though it didn't work well on PB, I had gotten used to it. Off PB, it's like Happy Times are Here Again!
Anyway, it's easy and clean to use after a little learning curve time, it works well, is comprehensive and fast. You don't have to join anything, just open the window, use the tools, and then save to desktop, where then you can upload to your photo host. Uploading to PB still seems to work, usually. (grump grump grump) I plan on switching to a FLICKR pay account though - when I don't feel so lazy.
Photobucket has also disappointed me lately. They had just gotten to where I could comfortably use them, and I liked the different layouts they had etc, and plus I can use the Uploader addon with my Firefox, and then they went all ugly and slow and 'may we suggest' this and that bs. I have complained to them many times about it, and you can see from googling the 'new photobucket' that a lot of people feel the same way as we do, but once corporate jerks get something in their heads they think will make them more money, there is no going back.
Sites are always doing this. Look what Google has become--a monster. You can't even google images anymore without being a power user, and there is so much crap on every page, and they don't want to let you go when you find another page you want to see because I guess their advertisers get more money the longer you stay on their page. You probably don't notice it, but I do.
Facebook is the same way. I have had to tell people with cable connections how to manage their browsers and addons so that FB won't freeze their computers. Sites all bemoan the fact that half the internet uses AdBlock, but they have only themselves to blame. I'm just surprised they can get ANYONE who DOESN'T use AdBlock.
Well, I'm with you on all of what you said. PB expects us to find them so great that we get a paid account. I don't think so. Slow, doesn't work most of tht time you use their editors, which they have made useless to anyone but a kindergartner. Now, they are losing photographs. They always reduce the size of the photo files so they are dull and less sharp, and then if the editors work and you vainly try to restore the jpegs, that reduces them more... yes, I want to pay for all this.
