I bought cherries, oranges, and Kalamata olive bread. I know all three of the vendors as I pretty much go to the farmers market every Saturday. The bread lady, Dianna recognizes me now and seems happy to see me. She only sells her fresh baked breads and dolci, and cakes at three area farmers markets. She tells me to order in advance so she will have what I want - I usually go to the market late in the morning about an hour before it closes looking for bargains, but sometimes things have sold out. I ave not ordered in advance yet, she always has something good, but maybe I will. I could place an order on email, pay with Paypal. and p/u at the market Saturday. The Kalamata olive bread is so-o good.
i *love* good kalamata olive bread. not all is so special, but when you run across a good one? oh, yeah, baby. there was a bakery in phoenix that had the best. i haven't found any quite as good, here.
They have a Kalamata dark bread at Trader Joes which I thought was OK, Moroccan something or other, but the dark bread didn't add anything. Then I checked out Dianna at the f-market. I'm hooked. I usually buy two loaves every Saturday. One goes in the freezer while I gobble the first one. They are not real large loaves: round, about 4-5" tall and 7-8" in diameter - white "french" style bread. OMG!
